Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important official said the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
